Meeting March 11, 2006
Back to Meeting Minutes In Attendance-February 14 Meeting Minutes – (A. Caschera) Minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by N. Piccirillo and seconded by B. Hirsch to approve the minutes as submitted.
All in attendance were in favor. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report - (B. DiBella) Bob’s presented the treasurer's report and reviewed the summary and transaction report and stated that the account is in good standing.
A motion was made by L. Maliszewski and seconded by R. Urbano to accept the treasurer’s report as submitted. All in attendance were in favor. Motion carried.
Fields/Grounds – (R. Urbano) Rocco mentioned that he will need some assisting with removing the metal cages to the new garage. Carlo will look into the blocks that are needed. Angelo spoke with the President of the Rotterdam Little League and explained that they are not allowed to practice on our fields and that signs will be posted. Angelo also attended
a recent town meeting regarding the new proposed town park. He informed them we would need at least four fields. All the different sports associations will have to take care of their
own fields, although we don’t know exactly what that entails. The proposed park is near the Rotterdam Square Mall. It may not go through because of the wetlands. If this doesn’t
happen here, it’ll happen elsewhere. The outdoor season starts April 23. Field setup is scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at 9am with a rain date of Saturday, April 22. We will need all coaches and volunteers to assist with field setup.
CDYSL – (T. Ward) No report at this time.
Spring Tournament – (B. DiBella) Although flyers are being distributed, no teams have signed up as of yet. Angelo suggested phone calls to be made to coaches. It was suggested
to contact Afrim’s for a contact list. To generate more revenue, Bob mentioned we will be holding a one day bake sale during the tournament. The bake sale will be held on Saturday.
A flyer was distributed explaining the bake sale. Parents of the RYSC & USAI teams are asked to donate baked goods. Items can be dropped off on Friday, April 28 after 6pm at the
Registration table. Any questions contact Marcia DiBella at 356-0734. Bob reminded everyone that soccer shouts are due.
Travel Teams – Uniforms are all in.
Old Business – April 1 Family Fun Night at Afrim’s was discussed. The question was asked as to whether players other than RYSC players, but rostered, can participate since siblings play for Rotterdam. Discussion was held and it was decided that other players can participate. Perhaps this would create more interest for our Club. A reminder that picture day is being held this Saturday, the 18th. Ben next reviewed upcoming coaches training. The following dates were agreed upon: Saturday, April 22, May 20 and June 10. These will be held at our fields at 9am. Ben will follow-up with an email and get feedback on these dates and a count on attendance for Family Fun Night.
New Business – Angelo also reminded everyone to stay off the big fields. The Club can use the fields at the Schalmont MS. Bob mentioned that he’s looking into a new procedure for Club receiving emails. Bob has decided to discontinue with Times Union and has signed up with Class M Multimedia. Bob also mentioned that he’s working on online registration for the upcoming Fall Rec program. The forms need to be updated and placed on the web. Discussion was held regarding a keeper’s clinic scheduled for April 18 – 21 from 6pm to 8pm and on April 22 from 9am to 11am. This week may cause a decrease in attendance due to it being Spring break week and we would not get all keepers to attend. We have 18 teams and we’re hoping for each team to send two keepers. Also discussed was the coaches Class D course. Trainer will not come to our location. Discussion was held regarding the dates and times. It was proposed that coaches attend a class for an entire week April 3 - 9, 2006, Mon. - Fri.: 6:00 - 10:00 PM, Sat: 8:00 AM - 6:00PM, Sun: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. After much discussion, it was agreed that this schedule will not work. It is very difficult for someone to commit for an entire week. Angelo said he will work on other ideas, although Ben will send an email to get feedback on both the keeper’s clinic and the coaches’ class.
Spring Soccer – Angelo mentioned that we have 130 kids signed up. Discussion was held regarding the possibility of having an additional date for sign up.
Memorial Day Parade – The parade is being held on Thursday, May 25 at 6pm. The parade begins at 6:30pm. In the past, U8, U10 and U12 teams have marched. Lynn will coordinate this event. She’ll need to know by April 3.
Next Meeting - The next Board meeting (Board Members) will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 7:30pm followed by the general board meeting (open to all coaches and guests)
at 8:00pm at the Colombo Club in Rotterdam.
With no other topics to be discussed the meeting was adjourned. A motion was made by N. Piccirillo and seconded by B. Hirsch to adjourn the meeting at 9:25pm. All in attendance were in favor. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Fil DiCristofaro
